A leading maritime agency driving Singapore's global maritime aspirations.
How MPA was Formed
On 2nd February 1996, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was formed through the merger of the following three entities:
- The National Maritime Board
- The Marine Department of the Ministry of Communications
- The regulatory departments of the Port of Singapore Authority
MPA is a statutory board under the Ministry of Transport (MOT). From the initial largely regulatory role, MPA's role has expanded over the years and MPA is now the driving force behind Singapore's development as an International Maritime Centre (IMC), taking on the roles of Port Authority, Port Regulator, Port Planner, IMC Champion and National Maritime Representative.
Following the formation of MPA, the then Port of Singapore Authority corporatised on 1st Oct 1997 and has since been known as PSA, where “PSA” no longer stands for the Port of Singapore Authority.

MPA’s 15th Anniversary Logo
 |
- The words “MPA” have been kept identical to the original MPA logo to retain the brand.
- The chosen font for “15th Anniversary” is tasteful and celebratory, with emphasis on “15”.
- The arrows are adapted from the original MPA logo and form a brand extension for MPA’s 15th anniversary. The 15 arrows which point upwards, represent MPA’s growth and progress built over the 15 years. The arrows have a more defined colour as they move up, reflecting MPA’s clearer vision and direction over the years. Finally, MPA’s corporate colours of green and blue have been selected so as not to deviate from the corporate brand. This enables the 15th anniversary logo to be easily associated with MPA.
- MPA’s 15th Anniversary Logo was designed by a staff of MPA
